Theatre in the EMR
July 21, 2015

In the spring of 2015, the theatre play ‘Vergeten & Verzonken’ or ‘Vergessen und Versunken’ was performed a total of 52 times during a tour throughout the Euregio Meuse-Rhine (Dutch Limburg, Belgian Limburg, East Belgium and North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany). During this tour, the play (including the subsequent discussion) was assessed with all visitors. The audiences gave the play an average rating of 8.93/10.

The most frequent reaction was that those present said they were very moved by the play because the situations and the emotions were so recognisable, particularly the feeling of powerlessness.

‘What a superb imitation of reality!’

During the evaluation, those present said that the play provided a good opening for discussion.

‘Good reactions from the audience, because people honestly dared tell their stories.’

‘There was a great need among the audience to share their stories, too.’

‘Thank you for the play. A great total package, moving and restrained. I hope this play will be widely performed so that depression and dementia can be discussed more. It really produces results.’ (visitor March 2015)
