EMR Health Congres Indoor Environment

17-11-2014

Indoor environment

50% of the houses has an unhealthy indoor-environment, with negative health consequences such as asthma and COPD. On the other hand a lot of houses are reconstructed or rebuilt – with strict isolation requirements-, without automatically taking into account more ventilation of the house. It is important to avoid more indoor environmental problems.

The RWTH Aachen (D) has responsibilities for indoor environment and the Province of Limburg (NL) has policy on indoor environment “Agenda Health and Care 2013-2015 / Agenda Gezondheid en Zorg 2013-2015”.

Therefore the Euregional project In-site is accomplished in 2014. With this cooperation a more effective and efficient approach for indoor environment can be reached. Including the indoor-environment issues of transnational habitation, energy-efficient homes, schools and daycares.

First, information was gathered about the tasks, responsibilities and indoor environmental plans of different organizations on German and Dutch side. Secondly, a Symposium was organized to discuss the willingness and ability of future European regional cooperation between indoor health organizations and the construction/building companies and organizations.

The project is co-financed within the framework of the INTERREG IV A Programme Deutschland-Nederland 2007-2013 by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Framework Project 3 “Integration and Society / People to People” of the Euregio Rhein mesh-North. The project is supported by the program in the Euregio Rhine-Meuse-North and organized by the Province of Limburgand RWTH Aachen Uniklinik.
